• Vodka must not be placed in the freezer. Although most vodkas do not freeze, these low temperatures hide the real characteristics of vodka. Cold vodkas tend to taste the same. Vodka should be served at room temperature, or cool.

• Vodka started as a medicinal product and is still used today as such. Moderate consumption of vodka can improve cardiovascular health, reduce stress and cholesterol. In some countries it is used as a remedy for colds and fevers as well as a disinfectant.

• Russia is the country with the highest consumption of vodka with a monthly average of 17 shots per person. Poland follows with 14 and Ukraine with 10 shots.

• In Polish weddings, according to popular wisdom there must be a bottle of vodka per guest - including counting children and the elderly.
